Variable frequency drives (VFDs) can provide power-efficient speed control of AC induction motors for a lower system cost than a servo mechanism. A brushless DC motor can also be used with a simpler speed controller. Mechanically commutating brushed DC motors are a simple solution, running when power is on the leads and easily switching on and off with the throw of a switch, although the brushes are a wear item. Our offering includes brushed motors with gearheads or even encoders built into them for position output.
